coaching for athletes in transition
A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there
Athlete: a person who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports, or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina.”
There is a competitive fire that burns brightly in every athlete. It is born in us and it doesn’t die until we do. But it does change, it has to. And to survive and thrive we must change with it.
Whether you are a weekend warrior, high school, college, amateur, semi-pro, or professional athlete, when life dictates that your role as an athlete must change, it can rock your world. It doesn’t matter if that pivot has to happen because of injury, or retirement post-high school or college, or simply the natural progression of life, confronting a future where sport and fitness have to transition and take a new place in your life can be an enormous challenge.
As an athlete, I have been through the transition of retiring from the sport I love after college, dealing with chronic illness, finding a new sport and suffering a catastrophic injury, and finally finding a fulfilling path as a middle aged (and still fierce) athlete. I know first hand the struggles that these transitions can cause and the value of a good support system to help you navigate though them.
Often so much of our identity is tied up being “an athlete” that we have no idea what it means now that the role in our world is smaller. We are left asking ourselves:
- Who am I now?
- What are my other talents?
- What are my other passions?
- Where can I now put my energy/competitiveness?
- How can I keep this a part of my life in a healthy way?
- How can I keep a balance between “ the athlete” and other parts of me?
- How can I use my strengths to make the most of my passion and abilities in a new way?
- HOW DO I REDEFINE WHAT AN ATHLETE MEANS TO ME?
You know what it means to be physically strong and healthy, we must make sure that you are also mentally strong and healthy as you start this new chapter of your life.

Our coaching program uses the ClifonStrengths® assessment to dive into what your unique talents are and how you can utilize them to pivot into your “new athlete” identity. We also use the enneagram model to look at your core drive, how that affects the role that fitness/being an athlete plays in your life, and how to best use that drives to find a path that fits where you are in life currently.
In short, ISI Coaching helps you challenge limiting beliefs about yourself and your life, reshape your life to find balance in a new way, and redefine for yourself what it means to be an athlete. You will walk away with a clear understanding of how to integrate your identity as an athlete into your already full life so that you can celebrate where and who you are now with no comparison to the past and without fear of losing balance in your life.
